02M 02Q Gearbox 4th Gear Support for the Input Shaft

Description One of the biggest weaknesses of the 02M & 02Q Gearboxes is 4th Gear stripping teeth.  We are seeing this becoming a major problem on vehicles with high torque figures. The issue is that the vibration and twisting force that goes through the input shaft and the shaft opposite, this pushes the gears apart. The result is that the 4th gear no longer engages correctly, this can result in the 4th gear breaking off or stripping the teeth. The support works by a brass support pushing against the input shaft to stop the parting of the two 4th gears. The preload of the support is adjustable and should be checked periodically.
